Chroma Group successfully led the refurbishment of Sydney Central YHA, the largest YHA property in Australia.

This nine-story heritage-listed building accommodates up to 560 guests in both private and co-living spaces. The project aimed to elevate the interior aesthetics and functional features across all levels, modernising the facility while respecting the heritage aspects.

With a limited timeframe available, the project required careful planning to ensure completion of works while working in with the hotel operations. The agreed phased approach was instrumental in maintaining smooth hostel activities during renovations.

To minimise impact on hostel operations, the refurbishment was strategically programmed, allowing for continuous hostel services throughout the project. The scope of works included detailed refurbishment to the Private Rooms and Ensuite Bathrooms, Co-living Rooms and Common Areas such as the cinema room, swimming pool area, and two co-working spaces.
